Gaia Profile: Rainbow_Zombi
------------------------

I've opened my commissions to Gaian's because I'm questing for an awesome avatar but it costs a lot. (Check out my profile above for more info about my quest!) And since I've opened my commissions to them, I'll open them to everyone, though I am searching for Gaia gold.

I'm also trying to learn how to create ports for Furcadia, so hopefully soon I'll get a chance to try my hand at one. (Anyone wanna help me practice? You don't need to use the port, I just wanna practice my pixelling.)

Stole this meme from =Theron. Hope she doesn't mind. >_>

Your name?
Mallory

If possible, your age?
21

When did you start drawing?
In grade 6, when someone introduced me to my first manga. Sailor Moon ftw.

Which hand do you use for drawing?
Right.

Which is easier to draw - male or female?
For me, females. But I enjoy drawing men as well, just not as good at it as some people.

Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?
Long hair, for sure. Though, short hair can be fun to try drawing, figuring out crazy styles and what not.

Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?
For me, the left. In fact, I have a very hard time trying to draw them to the right, they never end up looking good enough.

Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?
They're both equally hard for me, but the front is usually my preference. My profile views end up looking all mutated.

What do you have problems in drawing?
Legs, and feet mostly. I have a bad habit of drawing only in my comfort zone, which is from head to waist. Also, backgrounds give me a hard time, not very good with fine details.

What do you like to draw?
Depends on my mood, and what I plan on drawing. Usually, it's mine or my friend's OC's, male or female. Occasionally I'll pull off an anthro drawing, but I've stepped away from that style for a while.

Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?
Traditional. My supervisor has let me borrow his Wacom tablet for a little bit, to try and see if I can teach myself how to use Photoshop. So far, no luck. x_x (Anyone got any suggestions for tutorials? I'm mainly interested in figuring out to make the lines of a traditional piece look like it's been done digitally. Also, coloring is the bane of my existance.)

Where do you start drawing from?
The face. I always start with the nose and work from there. If I start with the body, the head ends up looking way too small, or big. comfortzonecomfortzonecomfortzone. @_@

What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?
.. Uhm, always making my characters face the left. I think.

Any tips for coloring/shading?
Hells no. I need them if anything. For shading, however, keep in mind where your light source is coming from, and make sure you keep it consistant through the drawing. But I'm not quite qualified enough to give any advice.

How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
Not long, actually. I can spend a good hour, hour and a half on a piece and it's ready to be scanned. I should spend more time on them really, attempt some background work and junk like that, but I often get frustrated with my drawings. Yay for no confidence! 8D

What music do you listen to while you draw?
Depends on my mood. It may be something slow, like classical, or hard like Manson. Lately, I've been obsessed with Michael Jackson. (STFU!)

How long does it take you to come up with an idea?
Usually, not long. If I'm really nervous about a drawing I'm going to do (like a gift for a friend) I'll ask everyone I know what I should do, how I should improve if I've got something sketched, or whatever I don't feel confortable with.

Your favorite drawing utensils?
Staedtler pencils (F, 2B), Pigma Micron pens (005, 02, 05, 08) for inking, eraser. I have Photoshop CS2, however I'm in the process of learning how to use it and tablets.

Your favorite color/the color that you use a lot?
My favorite color is Lime green, and I do use it alot. I try not to abuse it, but it looks so damn good!

Your favorite style(s)?
Anime, mostly. I like a lot of classical paintings as well, but what I love most is an original style. S'why I favorite so many people, because I admire their style. I don't wanna copy (for obvious reasons) but having other styles to look at, it helps me develop my own.

What kind of artist are you aiming for?
Uh, well that's hard to say really. I wanna be an original artist, have my own style that people will say "Hey look! That is definitely Mallory's work!"

My feature is :iconohsugi:

Amazing artist with skills I wish I could come close to. Many times I have been inspired but unable to release my creations. I particularly like their use of color, their character designs and how they draw their humanoids. Exceptional.

Check out their gallery! (sorry, no more previews. lost my subscription.)

Wedding photos!

It was SUCH a blast. Ottawa was amazing, (my BF wasn't there, sadly) and, the weather was great the whole week, besides a few rainy spots but overall it was an amazing experience! The pictures were taken on the Parliament Hill grounds by Claudette's (my sister-in-law) aunt. It was extremely windy because of the canal, but nice and sunny despite it. Definitely a beautiful spot for the wedding photos.

I'm so overjoyed for my brother, and my sister-in-law. They are so right for each other, it's a breath of fresh air to see them together in their happiness. I wish them the best health, love and prosperity for the future. I also thank them profusely, 'cause they put up with me for a week, PLUS paid for my flight (which was fucking incredible by the way), my dress, some meals, and god knows what else. I cannot thank them enough.

(Now, I just have to find a fucking envelope for the Thank You card I made them!)
